Currency Codes contain the list of currencies used by Transportation Manager. The most significant attribute associated with Currency Codes are the Exchange Rates which are primarily used to normalize routing/rating amounts from tariffs with different Rating Currencies. The Exchange Rate is also captured in most operational and financial transactions.
Use this page to access and maintain the exchange rates and Effective Date and Expiration Date for each exchange rate.
The Currency Code defined in the Units of Measure and Exchange section on the Defaults tab in Global Defaults in the Global Settings is the base currency for the Transportation Manager instance. The Exchange Rate for this Currency is 1. The Exchange Rate for all other currencies are expressed as the rate by which a monetary amount would have to be multiplied to compute the equivalent amount in base currency. For example, if the Base Currency is the US Dollar (USD), as of November 2011, the Exchange Rate for the UK Pound Sterling (GBP) would be approximately 1.5901 and the Exchange Rate for the Euro (EUR) would be 1.3624.
The bootstrap data for Transportation Manager includes several commonly used currencies. The Currency Codes assigned to these entries conform to values assigned by the International Standards Organization (ISO 4217 Currency Symbol List). Currencies not applicable in a particular instance of Transportation Manager should be deleted. The Exchange Rates for the currencies being retained can be defined for a specific date range. Additional currency codes can be added, as required. It is recommended that new Currency Codes confirm to ISO 4217 standards.
Currency Codes are defined for many of the setup entities in Transportation Manager. They are also associated with each of the operational and financial entities.
Exchange Rate column shows the rate that is applicable for the current date and will be blank if an exchange rate has not been defined. Use the "Exchange Rates (Employee)" or "Manage Exchange Rates (Employee)" operations to define exchange rates.
Note: The "Exchange Rates (Employee)" operation is not available for the base system currency or for currencies that have been amalgamated under the Euro Dollar.
By default, the list of Currency Codes is sorted in ascending order by Currency Code.
