This topic describes the Rate Shop screen that can be optionally accessed from the rating pages for these ratable entities (i.e. shipments, shipment legs, non-operational freight (A/P or A/R), trips or loads not attached to a trip). Refer to "Rate Shop (Employee)" for information on the Rate Shop page that can be accessed directly from a list for any of the ratable entities.
Use this screen to view tariff / service combinations identified by the route, rate and schedule (or route and rate) process and optionally commit one of these combinations to the entity.
The Rate Shop process examines all available tariff / service combinations and lists those with lanes that match the origin and destination point for the applicable entity, respecting all the other routing and rating (and optionally scheduling) constraints.
The first tariff / service combination on the list will be the one selected by the route, rate and schedule (or route and rate) process as the preferred alternative. For A/R rating (shipments, non-operational freight for A/R), the sequence of presentation will be based exclusively on cost. For A/P rating (loads, trips, shipment legs, non-operational freight for A/P), the sequence will be established based on the Carrier Selection method from the Global Settings: if Cost, sequencing will be based on computed cost; if Performance, sequence will be based on costs that have been adjusted to reflect relative differences in Carrier Performance (Grade).
For information on the icons that are displayed on this screen, see Legend of icons.
When a tariff / service combination is selected from the Rate Shop screen:
For A/P entities, if carrier and/or service and/or trailer equipment type and/or tractor equipment type and/or tractor domicile and/or trailer domicile is hard or soft committed, the list of tariff / service combinations on the Rate Shop screen will only include the alternatives that satisfy all commitments. When all possible values are committed, there will usually only be one qualifying tariff / service combination. For A/R entities, commitments will only be applicable for service and trailer equipment type.
When multiple services for a single tariff meet the routing, rating (and optionally scheduling) requirements for a ratable entity, the Rate Shop screen will present a separate row for each qualifying tariff / service combination. For A/P rating, there could potentially be multiple tractor / trailer equipment types and tractor / trailer domiciles eligible for each tariff / service combination; the Rate Shop screen will present the preferred equipment types and domiciles, where the selection will be based on lowest cost and then priority for the equipment types. For A/R rating, there could potentially be multiple trailer equipment types for each tariff / service combination; the Rate Shop screen will present the preferred trailer equipment type, where the selection will be based on lowest cost and then priority for the equipment type.
For loads, tender reject/cancel information is available for presentation. The inclusion of event (i.e. tender reject, tender cancel), reason and date/time in the list will inform users of carriers that have already rejected a tender or had a tender cancelled internally.
The benchmark rates are also available for display on the list of loads. See Benchmark Rates for more information.
Cost can be presented in one or more than of these currencies by selecting the applicable column for presentation:
Distance can be presented in one or both of these units of measure by selecting the applicable column for presentation:
Additional Operations
Note: Scheduling Information can be accessed only when the Rate Shop screen is presented for a load, trip or shipment leg where scheduling is active.
Note: Business Hours and Contacts can be accessed only when Rate Shop screen is presented for a load, trip or shipment leg. These operations are not accessible when this page is accessed for a shipment or non-operational freight transaction (A/P or A/R). Business Hours and Contacts can be accessed from this screen for the Origin Location, Carrier, Tariff/Service, Tractor Domicile (loads and trips only) or Trailer Domicile (loads only). For loads, origin location refers to the first stop on the load if carrier; for trips, origin location refers to the first stop on the first load. Information for domiciles is available on when the applicable carrier is domicile based.
Note: The Resource Utilization Chart can only be accessed for loads and trips where the applicable carrier is domicile based.
