The List of Time Zones defines the Time Zone Group. This zone group is used to define the geographic breakdown for each time zone. When address profiles are created or modified, the Time Zone offset is calculated by referencing the zones in the Time Zone Group and the corresponding Time Zone offsets.
Transportation Manager is delivered with data that defines (approximately) Time Zones for Canada and the United States. If necessary, system provided data for time zone designations can be amended or extended.
Time Zone offsets are stored in each entity profile, but the default value can be overwritten. The scheduling algorithms used by Transportation Manager and Transportation Planner consider Time Zone offsets when calculating arrival and departure times for shipments and loads that cross time zone boundaries.
List
By default, the List of Time Zones is sorted in ascending order by (Time) Zone ID.
For information on icons and functionalities available on the list pages, see Web Interface lists.
Properties
The properties for a Time Zone are identical to the properties of a generic zone, with the exception that Time Zones allow an offset (expressed in hours) to be maintained. Zones created as Time Zones cannot be reused in other zone groups or as generic zones.
Note: Zones in Transportation Manager cannot span multiple countries. Since most Time Zones do span multiple countries, multiple zones must be configured to define each Time Zone. The same Sort Description can be assigned to each of the zones that collectively define the Time Zone (For example: Zones EASTCAN and EASTUSA would collectively define the Eastern Time Zone of North America.
