A set of controls in the user group profile can be used to optionally restrict activities that can be performed by the users in each user group. These allow the following limitations to be imposed for carrier and/or employee type users:
The Eligible to Maintain Dock Commitment with Violations flag will control whether users will be able to create or update a dock commitment that would result in any of the violation conditions listed immediately below. If the dock commitment already has one or more of these violation conditions, or the change would introduce one or more of these violation conditions, a restricted user cannot create, update or delete the dock commitment. See "Dock Commitment Violations" for details on the potential violation conditions for a dock commitment:
Commodity Violation
Equipment Type Violation
Booked when Closed
Over-committed
Dock on Hold
Inbound / Outbound Violation
Location Throughput Group Violation
Dock Activity Violation
Pre-Loading/Post-Discharge Time Violation
Separate controls are provided in the user group to control these violation conditions:
Live / Non-Live Violation
Dock Selection Constraint Violation
Maximum Days Start Date Change Violation
The Eligible to Maintain Unassociated Dock Commitments will control whether users will be allowed to create, update or delete dock commitments that are not associated with a load/stop. See "Unassociated Dock Commitments". Users with edit authority that are not allowed to maintain unassociated dock commitments will nevertheless be allowed to convert an existing unassociated dock commitment so that it becomes associated with a load stop.
Dock Commitment Date/Time Access will be an enumerated value that will control whether users will be allowed to modify the Start Date, End Date, End Time and Duration for the dock commitment. Users with edit authority will always be able to edit the Start Time for the dock commitment:
Some users may not be allowed to edit the End Date, End Time and Duration for dock commitments. For these users, Duration will always be computed based on the required amount of Loading/Unloading Time at the Dock while End Date/Time will always be computed based on Start Date/Time and Duration.
Users may also be prevented from overriding the default Start Date for an associated dock commitment. These users will be allowed to edit Start Time but will not otherwise be able to control the dates/times for an associated dock commitment. While users that are allowed to work with unassociated dock commitments will be able to edit the Start Date for these commitments, a restricted user will not be allowed to link the dock commitment to a stop if the Start Dates for the two entities are not equal.
If the current date/time is less than xxx hours before the Start Date/Time for a dock commitment, where xxx is Minimum Lead Time for Editing Dock Commitments in the dock table and the Enforce Minimum Lead Time for Editing Dock Commitments flag in the user group profile is enabled, the users in the group will not be allowed to create, update or delete the dock commitment. Restricted users will also not be able to successfully create or modify a dock commitment if the Start Date/Time is being set to a value that is not at least xxx hours in the future. The Start Date/Time for the dock commitment is expressed in the time zone of the applicable shipping location. The current date/time will be converted to the time zone of the shipping location before the comparison is made to the Start Date/Time for the dock commitment.
Cut Off Time for Next Business Day for Editing Dock Commitments can optionally be defined for a dock. If defined and the date portion of the Start Date/Time for the Dock Commitment is equal to the date for the next business day for the dock and the current time is greater than the cutoff time for the dock and the applicable user group has been configured to observe this restriction, the user will not be allowed to create, update or delete the dock commitment. Users will also not be able to successfully create or modify a dock commitment if the Start Date/Time is being set to a value that would violate the cut off time for the dock. The Start Date/Time for the dock commitment is expressed in the time zone of the applicable shipping location. The current date/time will be converted to the time zone of the shipping location before the comparison is made to the Start Date/Time for the dock commitment.
Users that are not authorized to provide desired updates for a dock commitment because of any of the limitations listed above will have to contact an authorized user.
