Carrier ID: The ID for the carrier. It is user-assigned, mandatory and cannot be modified after the carrier has been created.
Carrier Name: User maintainable description or name for the carrier. It is mandatory. It can be modified in Update mode.
Status: Possible values are Active and On Hold. Status is controlled using the Hold and Activate operations from the List of Carriers.
Division: The division for the carrier. It is optional for users that are not restricted to a specific division. It can be modified in Update mode if the Enforce Division and Logistics Group Relationships flag in the Global Settings is False. If a division is not specified, carrier can be used in all divisions.
SCAC: Acronym for Standard Carrier Alpha Code. Mandatory. Used extensively in North America, SCAC is a unique two-to-four-letter code used to identify transportation companies. Integration with SMC CarrierConnect will use the SCAC for the carrier associated with the tariff. It is editable in Update mode. Multiple carrier profiles can reference the same SCAC. It is validated against the user-maintainable SCAC domain table.
Cost Center: This is one of the dimensions in the G/L account designation matrix. Mandatory. The Cost Center associated with the carrier will be used when assigning G/L accounts for G/L transactions. Combo box is populated with entries in the user-definable cost center domain table. It is editable in Update mode.
Address
Address: Addresses for carriers are maintained using the Work with Address (Customer/Employee) page which can be accessed using the view details () icon. Address information on the General tab for carriers is always presented in read-only format. Address is mandatory.
Contact Information
Contact Information: Contact information at the carrier level is used when an individual contact for a role is not defined. This information is editable in Update mode. Contact information consists of the following individual fields: Primary Phone Number, Secondary Phone Number, Fax Number, Email Address, URL and Language. Of the contact fields, only Language is mandatory.
Units of Measure and Exchange
All fields in this section are mandatory. All fields are editable in Update mode. All fields will be used as the default for corresponding fields when execution tariffs are created for the carrier. Weights, volumes, distances, etc. for carrier type users are presented in the unit of measure of the corresponding carrier profile.
Unit of Measure Type: Possible values are: Metric and Imperial. Values for other Unit or Measure fields (excluding Currency) will be refreshed if this value is modified.
Distance: Must be Miles if Unit of Measure Type is Imperial and Kilometers if Metric. All distance values for users that belong to user groups that reference this carrier will be expressed in this Unit of Measure.
Weight: Can be Pounds or Tons if Unit of Measure Type is Imperial. Can be Kilograms or Metric Tons if Unit of Measure Type is Metric. All weight values for users that belong to user groups that reference this carrier will be expressed in this Unit of Measure.
Length: Can be Inches or Feet if Unit of Measure Type is Imperial. Must be Meters if Metric. Value controls both linear and cubic dimensions. For example: If Length UOM is Feet, Volume UOM will be Cubic Feet. Length UOM will qualify all occurrences of Length, Width, Height and Laden Length. All volumes for users that belong to user groups that reference this carrier will be expressed in this Unit of Measure.
Currency: Can be any Currency configured in Transportation Manager. Currencies are maintained in the user-definable currency domain table. Currency will qualify the Order Value and Declared Value for users that belong to user groups that reference this carrier.
Insurance
Expiration Date: The expiration date for the insurance policy for this carrier. Mandatory. When a carrier profile is maintained, if current system date is greater than the Insurance Expiration Date, the carrier will be placed on hold.
Amount: The amount of insurance coverage for this carrier, expressed in the carrier's currency. Mandatory. It is editable in Update mode. Insurance Amount does not impact carrier selection during routing/rating/scheduling or optimization.
