The List of Distance Transit Time Overrides function is available using a navigation pad link in the System Entities module. It can also be accessed from the List of Services for Tariff, List of Domiciles for Carrier and the List of Locations in the System Entities module.
This list includes a row for each distance / transit time override created using this function as well as overrides created using the Distance / Transit Time operations for any of the Transportation Manager transactional entities (e.g. loads, trips). When accessed from the perspective of a shipping location, domicile or tariff service combination, the list is restricted to rows that refer to the source entity.
You can use the distance and transit time override feature in Transportation Manager to override the values provided by any of your Distance Engines. You might create a distance / transit time override if your distance engine data is not current, or the distance and/or transit time is unavailable or inaccurate for a pair of addresses.
Distances and transit times are also available from the perspective of each of these operational entities:
The lists and property pages available from the operational entities will present the distance and transit time between each pair of locations where a distance and/or transit time might be required by the routing/rating/scheduling process. Those screens will present override values if they exist; otherwise, default values for the applicable distance engine will be displayed.
You can create new overrides via the list in the System Entities module. Overrides can also be created from the perspective of any of the operational entities.
The system will not allow you to create a new entry if an override entry already exists for the exact same combination of distance engine, division, origin shipping location (ID/type/address), destination shipping location(ID/type/address) and tariff service. All of these are mandatory except for tariff service.
Overrides are not entity-specific or transaction-specific. Once created, an override is applied across all of the Transportation Manager. If you define an override from the perspective of a particular operational entity, if the entity is still in a status where it is eligible for rating, any rating results that exist for this entity are cleared.
If distance caching is turned on for your system, the cache is automatically updated with any new or modified distance and transit time overrides.
If the “Distinct Distances and Transit Times by Direction” flag in the global settings is False, all of the distances and transit time overrides maintained in Transportation Manager are bi-directional (i.e. the same distance and transit time applies when moving from A to B and from B to A). If the flag is True, a separate set of distances and transit times are maintained for each direction.
When this list is accessed via the List of Services for a Tariff, the Tariff Number and Service ID on the filter and properties pages defaults based on the source and are read-only.
When this list is accessed from the List of Domiciles for Carrier or the List of Locations in the System Entities module, the first Location ID and Location Type defaults based on the source and are read-only.
List
By default, the List of Distance Transit Overrides is sorted in ascending order by Override ID (an internally assigned unique identifier).
For information on icons and functionalities available on the list pages, see Web Interface lists.
Search
For special consideration of the search page, see “Using Multi-Selection when Searching for DTTOs”.
Properties
The properties for Distance Transit Time Overrides are displayed in the following tabs:
In Create mode, the Distance Engine can be specified by selecting one of the values from the combo box. If a Distance Engine is not specified, a default for Distance Engine will be established:
The Retrieve button, available in Create and Update modes, will refresh the distance and transit time from the designated distance engine. In Create mode, logic required to establish a default Distance Engine will be performed if a value has not already been defined.
If Breakdown Required is True for the Distance Engine and the two locations are in different regions (different states/provinces in North America or different countries elsewhere), a breakdown of distances and transit times by region must be supplied on the Details tab. If the Distance Engine is PC*Miler, breakdown will be established by the Retrieve operation.
If the “Distinct Distances and Transit Times by Direction” flag in the global settings is True, two sets of Distance and Transit Time fields will be editable from this page: the first set will define the values in effect when moving from Location 1 to Location 2 while the second set will define the values in effect when moving from Location 2 to 1. A minimum of one set of values must be provided. There will be two “Active” check boxes to allow users to explicitly control the direction of the overrides. Once a direction is “activated”, the corresponding Distance and Transit Time fields will be editable and can be retrieved from the applicable Distance Engine Version. When an “Active” check box is unchecked, the corresponding fields will become read-only and any values on the page will be reset to null. If only one set is enabled, the values will be used for that specific direction for the location pair while the opposite direction will still default values for the applicable Distance Engine Version. In update mode, an Active” check box will be unchecked when the corresponding override values are null, and checked when the corresponding override values are not null.
Together, tariff and service are an optional dimension for a distance transit time override. Tariff Number and Service ID must be both supplied or both must be null. When they are supplied, they must be valid and compatible. When Tariff Number and Service ID have been supplied:
See “Distance Transit Time Override Fields”.
