Global Rate Adjustments – Current Tariff (Employee)

Using Global Rate Adjustments for the current tariff, you can quickly apply the same adjustment to many rates for the applicable tariff.

Changes to rates can be expressed as a percentage (for example, decrease by 1%) or a monetary amount (for example, increase by.05). You can also assign an amount that fully replaces the existing rate.

The Global Rate Adjustments feature can be on an ad hoc basis or in conjunction with the duplicate tariff feature. For example, when creating a tariff for a carrier for the upcoming year, you might duplicate the tariff, then use Global Rate Adjustments to apply rate increases or decreases.

This utility can be accessed from the following tariff lists:

Start page

To initiate this process, specify the Service ID, Charge ID (and Freight Class, Equipment Type, Date Range, when applicable). When the utility is accessed from a list applicable to a specific service, the service defaults and is not editable. If utility is accessed from a list of conditions or options for a service, both service and charge default and neither are editable.

Note: To apply rate changes for a condition where multi-freight class rating has been enabled, you must perform a global rate adjustment request for each freight class individually.

Note: Any selected options must have Option Utilization set to Tariff Service Selection.

You can apply the rate adjustment to all Rate Codes for the selected tariff/service/charge/freight class/equipment type combination. You can also explicitly define the Rate Codes, Currency, and Range ID that should be impacted. When multiple Rate Codes are provided, they should be separated by a comma.

When Apply Adjustment to all Rates check box is unselected, you must provide values in at least one of the following fields:

If Currency is not specified, it will not be a constraint for eligible rate selection, and existing Rate Currencies will be assumed. If defined, it will constrain the rate selection and the eligibility of the Charge Level Adjustment.

If Range ID is not specified, it will not be a constraint for eligible rate selection. If defined, it will constrain the rate selection and the eligibility of the Charge Level Adjustment.

Once control information has been supplied, click Continue to advance to the page where actual Rate Adjustments are defined.

Apply Rate Adjustments for Charge page

This page allows you to apply adjustments to any of the following: Minimum Charge, Maximum Charge, Base Charge, Rate. Increases are expressed as positive values and decreases as negative values.

When requested, the General tab allows adjustments to be specified at Tariff Charge and Rate level. If the selected Charge supports Rates By Range, you can also toggle to the Ranges tab.

The Ranges tab allows separate rate adjustment criteria to be applied to each range step for the selected charge. You can quickly assign the same value to each range step by specifying a value on the first row and then selecting the Update Rows icon.

In the case of updates to a Tariff Charge where Rates by Date is active:

The Submit/Continue button invokes the rate adjustment request and returns you to the start page for this utility so you can invoke another request, presumably using a different set of criteria. The Submit/Finish button invokes the rate adjustment request and returns you to the list from which this utility was accessed. In either case, an informational message provides a count or the number of Rates and/or Rate Ranges impacted by the Global Rate Adjustment request.
