Create an LTL tariff – suggested workflow

The following is a suggested workflow for creating an LTL tariff using data that is described exclusively within Transportation Manager. Note that not all required fields are mentioned.

This example does not include set-up requirements for Fuel Surcharges. See "Fuel Surcharges – Initial Set-Up" for information on set-up requirements for Fuel Surcharges:

1. Create Range Code for Standard LTL Tariffs (if necessary). This step is only required prior to creating the first LTL tariff using these standard weight breaks.

2. Create Master Service for LTL (if necessary). This step is only required before creating the first LTL tariff.

3. Create Master Condition for Weight Multi-Class (if necessary). This step is only required prior to creating the first LTL tariff.

4. Create Delivery Schedule. See "Create a delivery schedule for the LTL tariff – suggested workflow".
5. Create LTL Carrier. This step is only required prior to creating the first tariff for this carrier.
6. Create Required Zones. This step is only required if the zones used by this tariff have not yet been established. In this example, LTL tariff will use zones corresponding to the first three digits of selected zip codes used in the United States.

   • Define Restrictions for Tariff Service. Restrictions define the operational minimums and maximums for freight being picked up or delivered.

   Create lanes for all valid combinations of origin and destination zones.

   Note: Lanes can be copied from another Tariff Service combination using the Duplicate Tariff Elements operation.

   • Create Rates for Tariff Service Condition. Example:

   Create rates for all valid combinations of Freight Classes enabled for rating and Rate Code. Freight Classes enabled for rating are those referenced in the Rate As Freight Class column in the table in section Create Condition for Tariff Service.

   • Create Discounts for Tariff Service Condition

     If carrier offers 30% of all listed rates, create Surcharge/Discount at Tariff Service Condition (Charges) level:
