ICU
See International Components for Unicode (ICU).
In Transit Unloaded Distance
This is a sub-classification of Unloaded Distance that only applies if this load is attached to a trip. This is the distance traveled with the vehicle empty, not including the unloaded distance traveled from the domicile to the first stop (if applicable) or the distance traveled to return to the origin point.
Inbound
A term used to refer to shipments or loads that are coming into a shipping location, regardless of whether it is a hub, distribution center, or consignee. Note any given freight movement could be viewed by different parties as an inbound or an outbound transaction. See "Outbound".
Income Statement
A financial document that describes the profitability of a company over a given period of time. The income statement will list all expenses and revenues for an accounting period, thus providing a financial status of the enterprise for that period.
Interface
See "API (Application Program Interface)".
Intermodal
Transportation of freight using multiple modes of transportation (e.g. truck - rail - truck) without any modification of freight composition when changing modes. Frequently, a single logistics provider will handle the entire movement. First and last legs are often referred to a Drayage.
International Components for Unicode (ICU)
ICU is a widely used set of C/C++ and Java libraries providing Unicode and globalization/internationalization support for software applications. Among other things, it allows for consistent formatting of dates, times, numbers and monetary amounts.
In-Transit
A term indicating that a movement has departed from its origin but has yet to arrive at its destination.
Invoice
A document sent to a customer requesting payment for freight services rendered. Transportation Manager uses the term freight bill to refer to a carrier invoice to avoid any confusion between customer and carrier when only the term invoice is used.
Item
An object inside a container, which is in turn part of a shipment.
Item Group
A classification of item numbers.
Item Number
An entity that contains information about a specific item.
Itinerary
See "Shipment Itinerary".
Itinerary Template
A set of pre-defined intermediate locations. An itinerary template can be optionally specified when creating a shipment or performing a rate quotation. The locations defined on the itinerary template will be inserted as mid-point on the shipment itinerary, to assist in load building.
