Facility
FCL (Full Container Load)
See Full Container Load (FCL).
FEU
See Forty-Foot Equivalent Unit (FEU).
Forty-Foot Equivalent Unit (FEU)
Forty-foot Equivalent Units (FEUs) are used to normalize volume commitments between shippers and carriers. An FEU refers to a container that is 40 feet long by 8 feet wide by 8.5 feet high. Actual length for containers moved by carriers may be shorter or longer (for example, 20 feet, 45 feet) and height may be taller (for example, 9.5 feet). Also see Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU).
Freight All Kinds (FAK)
Tariff rates that do not incorporate different freight classes. Compare with "Multiclass".
Freight Bill
A document issued by a carrier requesting payment for freight services.
Freight Bill Auditing
A feature that allows you to match and compare freight bills from carriers with vouchers that capture the costs associated with freight movements. Vouchers could be created based on operational activity managed by Transportation Manager (see "Load" and "Manifest"), or imported directly to the Accounts Payable module using a "Non-Operational Freight (NOF)" transaction.
Freight Bill Auto-Payment
See "Auto-Payment (Auto-Pay)".
Freight Bill Detail
A specific entry on a freight bill. A voucher will be matched to a freight bill detail.
Freight Bill Entry and Maintenance
A function within Transportation Manager in which you can match freight bills from carriers to existing freight vouchers. The module also enables you to review freight bills that have been previously handled to view the current payment status, audit G/L account utilization or initiate the creation of post charges against the same freight transaction.
Freight Bill Payment Mode
If payment is remitted to the carrier based on the results of the match pay process, the carrier is said to be in audit mode. If the shipper or third party logistics provider remits payments based on the charges as calculated by Transportation Manager, the carrier is said to be in auto-payment mode. This value is defined for each tariff associated with a carrier.
Freight Class
A standardized classification for freight. Freight classes are set by the National Motor Freight Transportation Association. Each product class is assigned a freight class. See also "Freight All Kinds (FAK)" and "Multiclass".
Freight Invoice
See "Freight Bill".
Freight Invoice Mode
See "Freight Bill Payment Mode".
Freight Service
A freight service is any kind of transportation service. This service can be provided either by a carrier or to a customer.
Freight Terms
Freight terms indicate who will be paying for a given freight transaction: either the shipper or third party logistics provider, or the customer. Also see Prepaid and Collect.
FreightMatrix (FMX)
FreightMatrix is a hosted service offering that uses transportation logistics software from JDA Software Group Inc. to enable FreightMatrix customers to cost-effectively manage critical aspects of their transportation network.
Freight Voucher
A Freight Voucher is an electronic document in the Transportation Manager Accounts Payable module. Freight charges as calculated by the system’s routing and rating module are retained. When a freight bill is received from a carrier, the amounts on the face of the freight bill are audited versus the anticipated costs as stored in the voucher.
Full Container Load (FCL)
A freight service used to move a shipment or group of shipments that fully consumes a shipping container (for example, 40 foot container).
Function
Each module provides access to one or more functions. A function will usually allow user to view an entity and its children and trigger various operations for the entity and its children.
