The Printer Defaults screen of the User provides access to the system reports installed on your system and allows you to determine the printer that will be used to print the reports that you request.
Even though printer defaults are established on the user profile, the available printers will be available network printers.
Print Mode
The Print Mode will define the default behavior when a report is triggered by this user. While the Print Mode presents four potential values, the behavior associated with three of the values is currently identical. If Print mode is set to Preview, Export or Save to File Only, the print output will go to a viewer on your screen. This viewer allows you to:
When Print Mode is Immediate, the report will be generated without a preview.
Printer Names
It is possible that a Printer Name referenced on the User Printer Defaults page may become invalid due to changes in network configuration.
If this situation is encountered, the Printer Name is displayed as "selected" (even though this is not currently an "available network printer"). In this case, the convention used for invalid (inactive) values will be used, that is, the name of the printer will be displayed but enclosed by the mathematical symbols "<"and ">" (for example,, <Default Printer Name>).
A user will be permitted to update the Printer Names for a User even if one or more of these is not currently an "available network printer". This is consistent with the treatment of invalid (inactive) domain values and also acknowledges the fact that the printer (printers) may only be temporarily unavailable.
Defaults Printers
When a Printer Name has not been established for a given User / Report combination, Transportation Manager will use the Print Defaults defined for the *DFT user.
