Event Notification module (Employee)

Use the Event Notification module to set up and manage lists that allow you to notify contacts when certain events occur.

The Event Notification Manager notifies specified contacts by e-mail of status changes or events that affect a load, shipment, or shipment leg. The email is sent in an XML format, which can be linked to an external application. You can select which status change or event should trigger a notification and to whom.

For example: You may not want to notify anyone when a shipment is confirmed, but do want to notify contact A if the shipment is placed on hold. Upon delivery confirmation of that shipment, you may want to notify contact B. If a POD is recorded as short or damaged, you may wish to notify contacts B and C.

Contacts can be external entities such as carriers, customers, and appointment contacts. They can also be internal entities such as logistics planners.

Event notification uses the existing Status Manager and Event Generation modules. If an event occurs where event notification to a contact has been enabled, then a copy of the relevant data from the shipment, shipment leg, load or stop is taken and preserved in an event queue.

The Event Notification Manager monitors this event queue and notifies the specified recipients. The event notification tables use the contact information within the entity profiles. A notification includes the event code, reason code, if any, and the appropriate division.
