Entity type search configuration

For Transportation Smartbench (TSB), entity searches include the TSB supported entities. Each entity type has its own panel for capturing and displaying data selection criteria in TSB. Entity type search pages are designed to support searches on elements most relevant to Load Building, Load Planning, and Tendering, and are similar in style and content to corresponding TM Web search pages.

For Tariff Smartbench (TFSB), entity searches currently include Tariff Lane Rates. Each entity type has its own panel for capturing and displaying data selection criteria in TFSB. Entity type search pages are designed to support searches on elements most relevant to Tariffs, and are similar in style and content to corresponding TM Web search pages.

1. Right-click the search item and click Search....
2. Select Value field to the right of the corresponding field label to apply search criteria on a specific field. The field will switch from view mode to edit mode and displays itself as one of the following controls.
   • Text box: Standard text box appearance that captures alphanumeric or numeric text based on the data type of the corresponding field.
   • Text box with secondary search: Displays as a text box followed by the ellipses icon . To enter information here,
     1. Enter directly in the text box or click to present a picker dialog box that displays a list of objects from the related base table. The top-most section of the picker dialog box displays a text box that reflects your current list selection as if you had typed it in manually, followed by Clear Selection that lets you clear the current selection. Below that, values from the base table are displayed in a multi-column list consisting of the target search value (usually an ID), plus at least one more column (typically, description).
     2. You can enter full or partial strings just above each list column to filter the picker list display. To select everything in the picker list, select the check box next to filter fields. You can make individual picker list selections using the row-level check box.

        IMPORTANT: Multiple row selection behavior is dictated by the Use Ctrl Key for Multiple Selection option accessed through the Results panel Settings operation. For more information, see Results panel operations.

     3. Click OK to close the picker dialog box and this transfers your selection to the appropriate field on the search page. Alternatively, click Cancel to exit the picker dialog box without changing the previous selection on the field.

        Note: When a search field refers to an element capable of storing multiple values (Skeleton Route Driver ID, for example), it is not possible to specify a filter condition that returns an exact match of combined values. This is because each comma-separated value given in the search field is treated as a separate “OR” condition in the look-up. For example, entering “A,B” will not return rows having the value “A,B”. This filter returns rows having “A” OR “B”. Similarly, the use of exclusion (^) and not defined (!) characters in a search field are treated as separate conditions. For this type of field, users can use the wildcard (%) to request rows where desired IDs may appear anywhere in the stored sequence of values. For example, “%A%,%B%” will return rows having “A” anywhere in the ID string OR “B” anywhere in the ID string. However, it will also return rows having other, values (e.g., “A,n”, “B,n”, “n,A”, etc.).

   • Combo box: Contains a finite list (usually a handful of items) for data selection. Combo boxes allowing more than one selection display with a check box to the left of the text string in the drop-down list. You can either select a check box corresponding to an item or clear the selection. Combo boxes that do not display the checkbox support have only one selection from the drop-down list.
   • Date or Date/Time: Supports absolute date, date and time entry, or selection of a relative keyword and offset value. If you enter the values manually, the format must match the expected entry format. Alternatively, click the date-picker and the text string will be filled in for you based on the value you select in the date-picker dialog box. If you use a relative keyword, you may not also provide an explicit date. Enter a numeric offset value to the selected keyword in Days and Hours field to reach the specific target date and time you require.
   • Ranges: Supports the ability to filter between inclusive values. Ranges are provided for many date fields, date/time fields and number fields. Ranges appear in search pages with From and To in the field labels.
     • If the From and To fields are blank, the range is not used as a selection criterion.
     • If the From field contains a valid value and the To field is blank, all rows where the value in the table is greater than or equal to the From field value are selected. In this case, rows where the applicable value is null are selected.
     • If the From field contains a valid value and the To field also contains a valid value, all rows where the value in the table is greater than or equal to the From field value and less than or equal to the To field value are selected. In this case, rows where value is null are not selected.
     • If the From field is blank and the To field contains a valid value, all rows where the value in the table is less than or equal to the To field value are selected, including rows in the table where value is null.

       Note: Ranges based on weight, volume or a monetary amount should be expressed in the unit of measure or currency for the current user.

3. Select another field or any of the search page operations, when finished in one field.
4. Click Save and Search to save the changes and refresh the entity view (if the view is already open) or open the entity view with the saved configuration (if the view is not already open). Alternatively, you can click Clear to clear the current selection or click Cancel to exit the Configuration dialog box without changing the previous selection on the fields.

Notes:

• Columns displayed in bold represents the indexed columns in the database and allows search to process quickly.
• Special characters are not supported in Date, Date/Time and Range search fields. Wildcards are not supported on Combo box search fields.
• Most text box control types support the following special character behaviors:
  • Multiple selection (by default ",")
  • Wildcard character (by default "%")
  • Exclusion (by default "^")
  • Undefined (by default "!")
