Multi-Container Representation in Shipment Container Table
It is possible to represent multiple physical shipping units using a single row in the shipment container table. When multiple containers are represented by a single row, it is assumed that all containers have identical attributes. In this case, the weight, volume, laden length, order value and declared value in the shipment container table will represent the totals for all containers represented by the row.
When a tariff charge corresponds to a master charge with a Data Accumulation Level of Container:
Rating at the container level must be performed using the attributes that would apply to a single physical shipping unit. When a row in the shipment container table represents multiple physical shipping units, the weight and volume, laden length, order value and declared value that would apply to one instance of the container must be used. To arrive at these values, the total values from the container would have to be divided by the quantity defined for the container.
The length, width and height referenced in the shipment container table will always be expressed in terms of the dimensions of a single occurrence of the container. These values are not adjusted when the row represents multiple containers.
Once rating has been performed based on the attribute of a single occurrence of the container, the computed amount is extended by the Quantity to arrive at the total amount that applies to the row in the shipment container table.
