Dock commitments are automatically computed and recorded by the Optimizer, based on the dock information supplied by Transportation Manager. This process takes into account any pre-existing dock commitments.
Authorized users are also able to manually create and modify dock commitments.
Appointments for shipping locations with docks defined cannot be maintained by the user. These will be automatically generated and maintained whenever dock commitments are created and modified in Transportation Manager. When dock commitments are suggested by the Optimizer, corresponding appointments will be created as part of the optimization write-back process.
If a load with a dock commitment is sent to the Optimizer for re-planning, any changes to the schedule and/or composition of the load will be constrained by the dates/times for the dock commitment.
A dock commitment is described using the following data elements:
Start Date/Time and End Date/Time are expressed in the time zone of the shipping location for the dock.
