The Generate Dock Commitment Event operation can be used to generate an Event Notification message for the selected dock commitment using a user-specified Reason Code. This Reason Code will also be updated as the Last Event Reason Code for the dock commitment.
The dock commitment table does not support a formal status. However, it does support a Last Event Reason Code. Customers that wish to use statuses for dock commitment can trigger an event for the dock commitment to signal that an implied status update has occurred. Saved Searches used to retrieve data from the dock commitment table can then be set to include or exclude rows where Last Event Reason Code contains a value or set of values, or does not include a value or set of values.
The Generate Dock Commitment Event operation can be triggered from the Dock Commitment Gantt Chart and from the dock commitment lists that support updates.
The Generate Event screen will be used to prompt for a Reason Code and a Reported Date/Time. This is a common page that is also used when generating ad hoc events for other Transportation Manager entities (for example, appointments, shipments, loads).
A Reason Code will be mandatory. The following system-assigned Reason Codes will be excluded from the list presented to the user:
When there are no valid reason codes configured for the applicable user group type, a request to trigger the Generate Dock Commitment Event operation will return an error message.
The Generate Dock Commitment Event operation will not trigger any activity for appointments.
