This page allows you to associate one or more services to the selected driver. When no service is defined on this page, the driver can take loads or trips using any of the services offered by the driver’s carrier.
When the services are defined with Restriction Type as Included, the driver can take loads or trips that use these services only, by default. When the services are defined with Restriction Type as Excluded, the driver cannot take loads or trips using any of these services, by default.
Override Control allows you to categorize all driver service restrictions as soft constraint or hard constraint. Authorized users can override a soft constraint during load or trip driver assignment. A hard constraint can never be overridden.
Note: The Restriction Type is strictly enforced when assigning drivers to skeleton routes (that is, Override Control setting is ignored).
Sample Scenario:
A carrier offers 3 services: STL for single driver truckload, TTL for team driver truckload and LTL for single driver less-than-truckload.
When no service is defined, the driver can take loads or trips with any service offered by the driver’s carrier; in this case, STL, TTL or LTL.
When "LTL" service is defined with Restriction Type as Included and Override Control as Overrideable by Authorized Users, the driver can take LTL loads or trips only, by default. In some cases, when there is a driver shortage for single driver truckload loads, an authorized user can assign this driver to an STL load with "Service Violation". Or, when a driver is needed to form a team to take a TTL load, an authorized user can assign this driver to a TTL load with "Service Violation".
When "LTL" service is defined with Restriction Type as Included and Override Control as No Override, the driver can only take LTL loads or trips, but not STL or TTL loads or trips (no exceptions).
When "LTL" service is defined with Restriction Type as Excluded and Override Control as Overrideable by Authorized Users, the driver by default can take STL and TTL loads only. In some cases, when there is a driver shortage for LTL loads, an authorized user can still assign this driver to an LTL load with "Service Violation".
When "LTL" service is defined with Restriction Type as Excluded and Override Control as No Override for a driver, this driver can only take STL and TTL loads or trips, but can never take LTL loads or trips (no exceptions).
